Ryanair now fly from London Stansted to Angoulême. The service currently runs on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from April to October.

This now makes Angoulême our nearest airport for visitors from the UK, undercutting by 30 minutes travel time from Bergerac and Bordeaux.

La Tannerie is a delightfully restored group of six homes sitting in its own secluded gardens in the market town of Chalais in southern Charente.

Our gites are an ideal year-round base from which to explore the neighbouring wine regions and historical villages of the Charente and Dordogne, or simply to relax by the heated swimming pool and soak up the region's plentiful sunshine.

La Tannerie has a unique location that offers visitors peaceful privacy, yet is within walking distance of all the facilities this small town has to offer.

Bed and Breakfast

La Tannerie is ideally situated for appointments with the estate agents or for events at the château, and our large, comfortable bedrooms with en suite facilities are available for bed and breakfast guests throughout the year.

Long Term Lets

Special rates are available for long term lets outside the summer season, making La Tannerie the obvious choice for house hunters looking in the Charente and Dordogne.
