We stayed here while househunting and the gite was in a great location right in the centre of town. The gite itself was comfortable and the welcome groceries, including a very nice bottle of wine, were a lovely touch. Everyone at La Tannerie was very friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome.

" This summer we are making our 4th visit to La Tannerie (2 summer and 2 winter stays), Why is this unusual? Because in 30 years of holidays this is the first time we have ever revisited the same place! Its a home from home and you are always made to feel so welcome. From the moment you open the door and discover your welcome pack of provisions to settle you in after your journey, add in the fresh towels and linen it's like being in a country hotel with the convenience of being in a town.
In summer the convenience of its own swimming pool without having to fight for sunloungers to cozy winter days with the wonderful wood burning stoves to create that special atmosphere. Try it, and like us, we are positive you will return again."

"It’s that time of year again when we start to think of sunny days in Chalais. As you may be aware its our 5th year in a row to visit.
It really is a pleasure to visit you all because you can always rely on a warm welcome and friendly atmosphere around La Tannerie. There are many reasons for coming back year after year, it’s a great base to explore the area but as you know we have spent many happy hours lazing by the pool enjoying the sun and soaking up that wonderful French charm.
We have always found the gite to be extremely well appointed and comfortable. It is a real pleasure to have breakfast on the patio, with fresh bread and croissants from the bakers.
We have stayed all over France over the years and we are so grateful to you both, for finding Chalais and especially La Tannerie. From the moment you drive through the magical willow tree by the bridge, you know you are going to have a wonderful time sharing your little slice of French paradise!"
